It reminded me of a lyric out of Psalms “as the deer pants for water so my soul longs for you.” I wrote a song about my experience. In fact, I committed to staying up all night until a song manifested itself. Everyone was in a circle around the piano. The track references Isaiah and also to the gospel accounts of Jesus’ earthly ministry. In one of those accounts, a guy sits by the roadside and screams for Jesus to touch his eyes and allow him to see. It has a very different feel to it and I like the lyrics in the bridge. It’s a confessional type of tune that sings well in a larger setting. One road seemed less intuitive and yet I felt something inside me pulling in that direction. This song sort of flowed right out of the keys. I love how balanced it is in being as much a song of petition as praise. I love the organic bridge that goes out of time for about 10 bars.
